Worship and Music Committee Meeting Minutes can be found here.

A free handbell course is being offered to anyone interested in learning more about handbells.

The Worship and Music Committee is charged with the oversight and maintenance of the worship life of the congregation. They make sure worship runs smoothly and all supporting duties are carried out in accordance with Lutheran beliefs and principles. This includes the Altar Guild who are responsible for setting up for communion, changing paraments, washing communion glasses, and organizing worship materials in the pews. Greeters meet worshippers as they enter the building, welcome them, and offer assistance as needed. The Usher Teams greet worshippers inside the church, distribute bulletins, collect offering and usher during communion. Acolytes, crucifers, lectors, communion assistants, Eucharistic ministers, nursery attendants, and tapers also fall under the jurisdiction of the Worship and Music committee. The committee ensures the music is supportive of worship by interfacing with the Director of Music.

The Director of Music is responsible for the professional leadership of our vocal and instrumental ensembles which includes the scheduling of rehearsals and service participation for each organization.

Senior Choir

The Senior Choir is for adults over high school age and rehearses weekly on Thursday evenings at 7 o'clock for 90 minutes. Choir members have a choice of services as the choir splits and sings the same anthem at both services each Sunday giving member the ultimate flexibility in worship attendance. There are no prerequisites for membership. No auditions, previous singing experience or music reading ability is necessary. In fact, most of our choir members will tell you they do not read music.

Junior Choir

Junior choir members are typically in third to sixth grade. Younger children may join with permission of the director. The choir rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7 PM for 1 hour and sings at least two times each month, sometimes more, sometime less. The normal choir season begins in September but children are welcome to join anytime during the church year.

Youth Choir

This choir includes members from seventh grade upwards into college and rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings at 8 PM for 1 hour. They sing every week at the service of their choosing to accommodate working schedules. Youth are welcome to join the choir anytime during the church year.

The Church Orchestra is our instrumental ensemble that plays for festival services of worship. Any musician who has 2 or more years of playing experience is welcome to join. Join our group on Facebook to keep up with services, rehearsals and special orchestra events.

There are two bell choirs available, Alleluia Ringers and our Bell Ensemble. Alleluia Ringers is a three-octave choir for people of all ages and musical ability. They rehearse every Tuesday. The Bell Ensemble is a small group of select ringers who rehearse on a variable basis and prepare anthems for pre-determined targeted dates. Contact Janet Filchner if interested in ringing bells.

For complete rehearsal time and schedules, see the Music Department interest group on our on-line church calendar.
