 2 Timothy 2:15    Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

It is our solemn duty to pray for others.  Our Lord is a God who hears our prayers.  We must therefore pray for our pastor, our family, and our friends.

A few verses to inspire you...

Philippians 4:5-7

6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with
    thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your
   hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 3:11-12

11 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
     Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
     And His ears are open to their prayers;
     But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.
